Merits Of Using Variable Rate Spreaders

By Paul Wright

In the past, people used human labour to get a lot of the work done including farm work. People would plough, weed and pour fertilizer all on their own. Nowadays, we have the machinery to do most of the work for us. Some of these kinds of machinery are variable rate spreaders. Their main function is to pour fertilizer and even pesticides where needed.

As human beings, we get tired very fast and sometimes, we are just not in the mood to work. As a result of this, we can lose a lot of time. Time which we could have spent doing more important things. That is where we differ from machinery. The advantage of using machines to spread fertilizer is that not only do they cover a lot of ground, but they also take less time.

A farmer should be able to estimate the amount of fertilizer that will be enough for their piece of land. With that, they come up with a budget and buy a little over their estimate. There, however, is nothing worse than overbuying something only for it to be insufficient. The fertilizer will always be enough because the machine applies equal amounts to every crop.

Money is never enough and we will never have any to spare. However, there are times when we get the chance to cut back on our costs. Using a rate spreader provides such an opportunity. You no longer need human labourers to spread out the fertilizer. The money that you would have spent on them reduces and you only need some for the maintenance of the machinery.

Every farmer is happy when their land has produced to the best of its ability. This not only means its fertile, but it means more profits for the farmer. The product will actually be of a much higher quality. The reason this is, the machinery is very accurate in what they do. They spread out the amount of fertilizer that is just right and enough to every crop.

Since machines are manipulated by humans, there are very low chances of mishaps, for as long as the machine is well adjusted and the operator knows how to use it. A rate spreader will release the exact amount of fertilizer it is asked to every crop. This means it will neither under-do or over-do the job thus avoiding destroying the environment around.

The rate spreaders are not only restricted to spreading of fertilizer. They can also be adjusted and used is spraying of pesticides. This way, the plants are healthy all -season round. Sometimes in the winter, we want to move snow from large pieces of land. In such a case, the spreader can be employed to sprinkle salt within the field instead of a person doing it.

The last advantage is that it requires very minimal supervision. It is a machine and the one controlling it can always be held accountable in case of any mistakes. Unlike people who have to be constantly checked on. If not, things may go sideways and you would not be able to hold them responsible as they will almost always try and cover for each other.
