How To Clean And Care Your Maple Bowls And Wooden Stuffs

Kitchenware and other utensils are very valuable at home. They are used when we cook, eat and serve our food. It aids us in almost every cooking activities that we do in our house that is why they are very valuable.

There are utensils for kitchen and eating use. There are also different types of utensils according to the materials being used. Some are made of copper, aluminum, iron and even from wood. Wooden utensils, like maple bowls, are a bit heavier compare to aluminum but they definitely look good in your table and is one of a kind.

Some people prefer using wooden kitchenware because they have fascination to wooden stuffs or maybe because they inherited it from their parents or great grand parents. Once these types kitchenware have been used for a long time already, it quickly looses its gloss finish, that is they need extra care. Here are few tips on how to clean and take care of them to avoid continuous replacing of these things.

Wash it right away. As much as possible, wash the them right after you have eaten your favorite food. If you will not wash it right away, the tendency is the that food crumbs will stick hardly unto your kitchenware and you may find it difficult to remove them. If you cannot wash it right away with soap, at least pour a warm water unto it so that the food stains will be taken out to avoid sticking. When washing it, use the sponge where the smooth portion lies keep the bowl from scratches.

Avoid heat. Heat could easily crack woods, that is why it is extremely dangerous to put them to heat. Do not ever use your wooden bowls when you wanted to microwave some food. Use also other kind of bowl for hot soups since it might crack your bowl. And more importantly, do not put these utensils and bowls in a dishwasher. You must hand wash them.

Spill your white vinegar. You may not notice but some food would leave tiny grains in your bowl. These grains may not be remove by just simply washing your bowls with soap, therefore, it is advisable that you spill some white vinegar on those tools. The white vinegar could kill those bacteria that were created because of the tiny grains which have not removed by washing.

Smooth it out. Try to feel your utensils if you could notice something rough and coarse, it might be some tiny particles from the food or the wood has started to get fuzzy. All you need to do to fix this is problem is to use sandpaper. Rub the sandpaper in the area where there is a fuzzy feeling. Softly rub it so that you will not cause more damage to the tools.

Oiling. Sometimes, because of constant use of these type of utensils, the color and its shine gets fade. In order to bring back the shine of your wooden kitchen ware, apply some oil unto it. You may apply the oil with a clean cloth or just using your fingers and then wipe it properly. Make sure you have applied the oil in the entire body so that the glossiness would get even.

Storage. After using it, place it in its proper storage. The heat of the sunlight is another factor that could ruin your kitchen ware so make sure that your storage area for these kinds of item is somewhere where there is not sunlight than can pass through.
