Spend More Time With Your Children, It'll Be Worth It

By Michal Henderson

Having a solid and lasting relationship with their children is perhaps one of the most ardent wishes of all parents. It can be a challenging task considering the demands of business or work, but it's surely possible and totally rewarding.

You work or manage a business to earn a living, and the objective for this is to provide for the monetary needs of the family. But keep in mind too that being present and spending time with your children is what counts the most. Doing things together is a way of showing that you care for them. As simple as joining them during meal time, reading a book, or watching their favorite cartoon shows on TV make a whole lot of difference.

Know their friends and spend time with them, too. It is vital that you know the personalities of their friends as they greatly influence how your kids behave and think. Ask them about their dreams and what they like doing together. Delve into their own family background to have a better picture of the type of people your children want to be around with.

Play games or engage in sports activities together. This is a good time to teach them about good values and the significance of sportsmanship and exercise. It's also essential to make time for each of your children. Schedule a one-on-one date with every of them and allow them to have it their way. By doing this, you make them feel really special and important as you give your full attention to them one at a time.

Respect and value their opinions on things. On some occasions, let them pick which clothes they would like to wear, what food to eat, or what interest they want to pursue. A good way to start would be to let them decide on the wall color of their own bedroom as well as the interior design elements that they want to apply. It would be a nice idea to have them participate in a meeting with your chosen interior design Singapore consultant so they can personally discuss their preferences.

While you may feel obliged to be with them at all times, remember to also give them the chance to flap their wings and explore the world on their own. Teach them how to be independent as this will enable them to be responsible adults who aren't afraid to take worthwhile risks.
