How To Choose the Right Kids Bedding for Your Child

By Cheryl James

The bedding in a child's room sets the tone for the entire space. The bedding can complete the look and feel that is desired, by both the parents and the child, for the room. With many options to choose from, both boys and girls of all ages are sure to find something that will excite them. Lots of bedding sets that are now available have other pieces that can be purchased separately to keep the dcor matching throughout the room. Some of these pieces include window treatments and lamp shades that can help accessorize the space.

There are many different options when looking to purchase bedding for a kids room. There are basic, solid colors that can be easy to incorporate with other furnishings. There are also many different patterns, prints, and theme selections to choose from. There are also many different styles of bedding including contemporary and modern styles as well as traditional styles.

Combining neutral colors with a splash of a bright color is a popular trend in bedding for young girls. Bedding with different shades of gray and a pop of yellow is an example of this trend. Bedding that combines light shades of pink and green or pink and brown is a great way to add an elegant and beautiful feel to a little girls room. Bedding that mixes polka dots and stripes can give a space a fun and carefree feel. Young girls may also enjoy bedding that is decorated with butterflies or has a princess theme.

A popular trend also for young boys is to combine neutral and bold colors. An example of this would be to use brown with a splash of orange. This allows the space to maintain a masculine feel while still remaining fun and easy to accessorize with additional dcor. There are also many choices in themed bedding for young boys. Popular themes include train and cars and trucks themes which are sure to please the little man. A western or a sports theme are also exciting ideas.

There are also many different choices in bedding suited for older kids. An older child might prefer something more grown up that is still fun and bright. An excellent choice for an older girl is animal print bedding. Add a pop of color, such as hot pink or lime green, to create a youthful and bright space. For an older boy, sports themed bedding is a wonderful option. Bedding decked out with his favorite sports team's colors and logo is sure to excite him.

Regardless of the child's age or interests there is bedding to suit them. Because it is the child's room, having them help decide on the right bedding is essential. If the child helps design their space, they are much more likely to enjoy it. If the child can not assist in choosing the bedding, it is important to keep their interests and favorite colors in mind while purchasing.
