Effective Ways Of Growing Curcuma Plants

By Linda Hayes

Having a house plant is never made hard and unappealing knowing that there are several flowers which both grow easily and are so beautiful when they do. One of those would be the curcuma flower which are entirely elegant to look at especially during summer when they bloom fully. They basically are so in love with heat that they do bloom during such season. This tropical plant comes in several hues such as pink, white and purple and sometimes an amazing combination of all three. They sure are perfecta and would accentuate the gardens making it more stand out than it is.

Little did everyone know, taking care and growing these plants are not that hard nor complicated at all. Compare to other tropical flowers out there, this may be one of those that can be tamed without being stressed out and annoyed. Homeowners who would like to add these on their growing flower collection in their gardens just have to make sure they do the right steps in caring for them.

These flowers may be planted on their own in a garden and would do all the beautification. But when they are potted along with other flowers that may bloom during the season, it sure can make everything look extra better. However, these plants are highly known for being unable to withstand frost season, they often dies. When they do, they no longer grows back from the ground not unless they will be replanted.

To ensure their survival during winter, they may need to be placed on other locations. Place them on temporary pots so they could be carried away from the area they were planted. Find a spot which is frost fee and place them there for the entire summer to prolong their survival until the sun is out again.

For those who are planting such flowers for the very first time, there is no specific way of trying to plant them. They just have to ensure all factors which would promote a healthy environment for them is met like the location or space they are placed. They may get or be exposed to direct sunlight without no issues at all. However, if the soil is dry then try keeping them in a shade instead.

They sure would grow fairly well when they are placed in the shade. These plants would prefer moist and well drained soil. It would be better to place so much of organic matters on it like compost. If the soils is a bit clayish or sandy, try adding the organic matters before planting them to keep optimal soil quality to help the plant grow.

Make sure to be watering curcumas as regularly as possible especially if the area has no means of getting exposed to natural rain. Fertilize these plants during spring as well as summer with general purpose fertilizers of any kind. Make sure to only place enough amount based on the recommendation seen on the fertilizer cover.

Pruning curcuma would be perfect during autumn. This is basically when the foliage dies back, pruning on such season would keep the garden looking a bit fresher and neat.

Some would recommend deadheading the entire curcuma plant to remove their faded flowers. However, it is okay not to do so. There would not be any problem at all even if they are kept that way.
