By Kimberly Wilson

Landscape design is a profession that focuses in art and designing tradition and being practiced by designers which combines culture and nature. To add a change in scenery, try to add some berms to provide elevation. A berm is a small raised elevation that can add interest when put into a yard. Place it in corners on plot lines. Pile at least five times long to form the berm. Add a few plants and trees will also increase the vegetation and gives off a nature feel.

To minimize the costs, do the project one at a time. This will give you some time to save enough money for the next phase. Try to reuse the old plants and stuff from the previous designs to cut of the payments needed. Make at least ten percent of every cost to save money. This is not a race so only spend on things that have to be done at an earlier time.

Dig into the ground for the tree. The hole must be deep and slightly wider than the roots of the tree. Water it for the first month until it fully established the roots to the ground. Tie a straw at the trunk to keep the wind from toppling it over. Select trees that can provide shade during summer.

Look for designing strategies in different programs from a computer. Try to visit the local store for features that might be added on your yard. Look for ideas from books and magazines that illustrate how to build your own landscape. Look on sites that show the best way to improve the yard.

To provide more privacy, try to install a fence. Use wooden panels to add in the entire property. Make sure it is tall enough so thieves cannot easily climb or look over. The hedges are tall shrubs that can provide a natural barrier between your property and the neighbors.

For a naturalistic landscape, use native plant life and gravel paths. Let the plants thrive in the garden and yard that would seem natural. Look on woodlands and forests for more inspiration.
