Fun Daytime Things To Do In Rome For The Family

By Debra Moore

So many things happen in Rome. So many quotes come from this ancient city. It is not only the buildings and the sculptures that you can learn from. It is also the culture that will tell you so much more about the city. Not only are there fine restaurants to go to at night, but there are fun daytime things to do in Rome as well.

Places like Pizza Navorna or the Villa Borghese are simply beautiful. The Colloseum is visited by millions of people every year. You can either book tickets on the day or before you go. However, it is recommended that you book online before your trip. Standing in queues is not much fun. You need to be well organised otherwise you may just be disappointed.

Don't forget your espresso as you take a break from your shopping. You may have had plenty of espressos at home. However, you have to realise that this is where the real espresso comes from. Just like this this is where gelato and pizza come from. There are many coffee shops that you can relax at. The most famous of them, being Galleria Alberto Sordi.

The Spanish Steps are also a nice place where you can take a break when you are feeling a little exhausted. These are not just a couple of stairs where you get to rest your weary legs. It is a well known region which draws in the crowds. Many people sit here soaking it all in. The Spanish Steps are surrounded by some of the best boutiques.

Learn about some of the more famous coffee shops, pubs and restaurants before you go on your trip. However, often it is the family owned restaurants and bistros that make an impression on folks. You will get to know the people who are usually welcoming and passionate about their food and their business. This makes all of the difference.

The Colloseum is not to be missed, and probably won't be with millions of people visiting this landmark every year. It is a place that has a lot of history behind it. It is the largest amphitheatre where people watched a lot of fights, big and small. Most of the Colloseum has been well preserved. It is a good idea to buy tickets online. In this way you avoid all the people.

The Piazza Navona is a great spot for when you just need to take a break and simply relax before heading off to your next tour. This is a square with restaurants and shops that are artistically displayed. You can sit down somewhere and watch the crowds go by. You can also watch some of the entertainment which does happen every so often.

If you are spending a little extra time in Rome, you may want to combine this with a trip out in the ocean. You may be going to one of the coastal areas. However, if you aren't then you can always take a boat trip out to a small village not far out. You can spend a weekend here, relaxing before coming back to the city. It means that you don't have to spend another week in a coastal resort.
